Our Story

History

The building that now houses the Gun Shack has a rich history dating back to 1912, when it first opened its doors as the Mount Airy Post Office. Over the years, it’s seen many transformations, but its role as a local landmark has remained constant.

From 1962 to 1977, the building served as home to Western Auto under the ownership of Henry Brown. In 1977, Henry passed the reins to his son, Steve Brown, who later laid the foundation for what would become Gun Shack Crosswinds.

In 1985, Steve brought the next generation into the fold—his son Tim, then 19, and daughter Susie, 18. The siblings have been dedicated to the business ever since.

After decades of hard work and passion for the industry, Tim and Susie officially took over ownership in 2008, carrying on their family’s legacy and commitment to serving the community.
